Today I was in Court at the Courthouse located in Maywood, Illinois (Maybrook) the 4th District. I decided to continue a hearing on a Statutory Summary Suspension because the Judge had a very full call and by demanding the hearing, it would keep the Judge in Court past 4:00p.m. and it was clear he wanted to go home because of the snow. Additionally, my Client’s license suspension would not be going into effect until after the continued date.
With a Statutory Summary Suspension the Judge sole person who decides if a person’s license is suspended or not. After 18 years of practice, I have learned when to push and when to step back. Taking the continuance will also allow me to review the police video and police reports with my Client before the hearing.
