How to Bring your Case to Court Sooner:
Once you have received a court date, whether it is your first court date or a continued date and you would like to have the case back before the judge sooner so you can close the case or get permission to leave the State of Illinois, or if your not available to go to court on the scheduled court date and time. The process is to “Advance the Case.”
Advancing the case is done through the court clerk’s office. Some court’s require a few days (DuPage County, Kane County, Will County) notice while Cook County does not.
Because you are bring the case into court without providing the prosecutor notice, the prosecutor will not likely have their file so the actions that you can accomplish will usually be limited to changing a condition of bond, getting permission to leave the State of Illinois, changing the court date and or time. If the charge is a simple traffic ticket it is possible to dispose of the case on the date that you advance it.
